sweet chestnut tree
This series of photographs was inspired by the 400-year old sweet chestnut tree that stands in the grounds of The Chesterfield Hospital, Clifton, Bristol.
I wanted to explore the quality of light underneath the tree on a bright summer's day and convey to the viewer a sense of the varied colours, shapes and textures which are evident in the leaf canopy of this distinctive tree.
The series was developed in the context of the Nuffield Health Photography Bursary 2013, and large scale prints of these images are now on permanent display at the Chesterfield Hospital. They have also been shown at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London
